Two of Alice Bucknell’s eco-critical videogame works, The Alluvials (2023-24) and Staring at the Sun (2024-25), have entered the collections of SFMOMA and the V&A Museum, marking SFMOMA’s first videogame acquisition ever. “It’s so exciting to think about the future trajectory of this medium—how games touch us back as open-ended stories, and what other worlds, agents, and systems can be imagined through play,” the American artist writes on Instagram.
