Iranian Sound Artist Silenced by Israeli Aggression

“It’s a bitter irony that the work I was going to bring to you, Cruise Missile Intersectionality, critiques the very imperial violence now grounding me.”
– Iranian sound artist and researcher Mo H. Zareei (aka mHz), announcing his absence from Montréal’s Elektra Festival due to the closure of Tehran’s airspace after Israeli aggression. Zareei was scheduled to present his audiovisual performance, Cruise Missile Intersectionality (2024), on June 20th alongside international artists Baron Lanteigne, Alain Thibault, Tacit Group, and Seulement, critiquing power and militarism within the “EXO, BEYOND BORDERS”-themed festival program.
