Sarah Rothberg Condemns Avatars to “Forever Meetings”
Sarah Rothberg presents a suite of new works from her ongoing research on discourse and large language models at Bitforms NYC. In “FOREVER MEETINGS” the American artist uses custom software to put animated avatars in endless philosophical conversations with daily prompts that keep dynamics shifting. Across several discrete works, CGI characters discuss “morality, ownership, power, and relationships,” each dialogue framed in custom housing that lends the conversations a bespoke sculptural presence.
